25 Shades of White

Details

Sam’s story has been one of the most uplifting and inspiring projects I’ve worked on…

Sam came to me really lacking in confidence. She wanted to create something much more characterful, interesting and brave, but was agonising over 25 different shades of white and couldn’t get past the tester-pot stage. After moving house, Sam, her husband and their two gorgeous boys had inherited beige walls, beige cupboards, beige ceilings, even the sofa was beige.

Sam was completely overwhelmed and scared of making an expensive mistake.

We went right back to basics, talking without pressure, and with a big dollop of humour. In a morning, we identified what all four of them really wanted from the space: Classic, English comfort, with an injection of sunshine, colour and contrast.

Sam took a deep breath, and committed to painting the walls behind her kitchen cabinets Hague Blue. What a transformation! Instantly the lovely cabinetry and architectural features had some definition and contrast.

From that point, she was on a roll….

Taking the project as an evolution, she has made huge, confident strides towards creating something really special. Every time I see her she’s beaming with pride, and as I write she’s ordering her Moroccan Mosaic tiled splashback and collecting fabric samples for a denim Chesterfield sofa. I’m so proud of Sam, what a superstar!

Here’s what sam had to say:

I wanted a more cohesive look that highlighted the architectural features of my kitchen, but didn’t really know where to start.

Annie listened carefully to what I wanted to achieve, and my ideas on possible paint colours etc. She then created a mood board and design proposal to show how the colours would work together, along with her suggestions for fittings and furnishings. These were great and really helped me visualise the completed project.

Annie is certainly very talented in interior design, but she also wants it to be a collaborative process. As such, she was always on hand to bounce ideas off, or give gentle guidance. I really appreciated this.

I feel a lot more confident in my own abilities as a result.

Thank you again, Annie. I’m thrilled with my new kitchen!
