Hello there, I’m Annie.

Encourager; organiser; getting-things-done-er; Sunday lunch roaster; homework-checker and welly-wearing veg grower.

One of my earliest memories is shuffling the furniture around in my bedroom. I must have been about five, and was probably in my room because I was in trouble for something. It was so much fun inching the stubborn bed and the enormous chests of drawers, trying to find the best use of space.

My mother made me put it all back of course, because the wardrobe doors wouldn’t open. But I did it again and again throughout my childhood, completely lost in the process. It was playful and fun, and aged five it didn’t matter that the doors didn’t open.

My career before kids was in Fashion and Interiors Magazines - House and Garden, Glamour, Elle Deco, Elle and Red. I learned about business, teamwork and a lot about style.

For the last fifteen years I’ve been raising our boys, knocking down and remodelling houses, building gardens out of mud-pits and running interiors projects. I’ve studied hard and taken excellent courses, so I’ve learned both the theory of design and I’ve also learned the hard way, by creating from the ground up, wellies on and spade in hand.

After a few mistakes and a few more successes, my friends started to ask for help with their own interiors and gardens. My gorgeous girlfriends had absolutely no trouble throwing together a fabulous outfit or rustling up dinner for twelve, but they sometimes lacked confidence to be as free and creative with their homes and gardens.

When our projects went rather well they suggested I support other lovely people who need confidence and direction with design. In fact when I told them I was launching The House Editor, most of them said, ‘Oh, FINALLY!” Seems they know me better than I know myself. So here we are…

I help people create stylish, meaningful interiors and gardens that tell their story.

I will guide you through the process, take away the uncertainty and help you make edited choices.

this is what I do

the design process

There’s an efficient, structured process to planning and implementing a new design.

I will mentor you through the process to create something you’re really proud of.

ps..it works for interiors and gardens…

01

What’s your Style strategy?

Informed, analytical planning is the keystone to getting it right first time: before you design, you need a vision.

Let’s analyse and define exactly what has meaning for you and would work in your property right now.

You’ll learn what defines your own creative style, train your eye to recognise its key elements, and grow in confidence to make informed, edited decisions.

I will produce a comprehensive Design Strategy which will frame your strategic vision. This is the starting point to great design.

02

let’s think colour and mood

How do you want to feel when you walk into the space? What mood do you want to create?

You can totally rock this look, and I will help you get right, in balance with your vision and strategy. This is about making something really special, that says something about you and who you are. Be braver. We can do it together.

Using the Design Analysis as a starting point, I will help you cement your vision by creating a full Design Proposal, Mood Board and Colour Palette. (Yes, gardens need colour palettes too.)

They’ll be super-useful, and so beautiful you might even want to frame them.

03

scale up & dim the lights

A creative vision is fabulous, but what about the practicality? Will it fit? - Should you go ahead and order everything… or are you making an expensive mistake?

Like a wing-man armed with a scale-ruler, I can help you plan layout and lighting so that you get it right - better - get it fabulous.

I will help you sketch out Plans, Elevations and Lighting to scale, and lay your vision onto paper.

Whether it’s indoors or outdoors, this is the way to visualise exactly how your space will look from all angles.

04

source like a pro

You need a simple list of specific elements to build a stylish and cohesive look which is completely authentic to you.

For an interior we’re thinking hard materials, furniture, fabrics, pattern and a stylish decorative touch.

In a garden you need landscaping materials, trees, plants, water, lighting, and somewhere to have a cup of tea in the sunshine.

We will work together to create your shopping list, to your budget, and we’ll discuss where to source everything, so it’s efficient and easy.

05

A big dose of character

Sometimes you create a space and then realise that it just doesn’t feel right. It’s not quite you, something is lacking. How can you make it feel like home?

I can help you inject character, so that everywhere you look you see something that makes you smile, reminds you of your interests and heritage, and gives you a sense of who you are.

This is where you add accessories and layer it up, it’s what makes your house a home and your garden a sanctuary. Your friends won’t want to leave.

Client Love

“Annie is very talented in interior design, but she also wants it to be a collaborative process.

She was always on hand to bounce ideas off, or give gentle guidance. I really appreciated this, and feel a lot more confident in my own abilities as a result.

Thank you again, Annie. I’m thrilled with my new kitchen!”
